About this project
We started the framing of the deck on a rainy day. It didn’t stop us from taking care of all the details. Using pressure treated spruce for most of the joist system and adding composite material for the decking and skirt makes this deck a real asset to this house. There are several options for the foundation, including: steel piles, concrete piers, concrete pads with levelers, or concrete pads and post. This one is built with concrete pads and posts. The joists are set a 12 inches on center. for the cost of a couple of extra joists the structure remains sturdy a true. Additional blocking adds support and structure for the finishing details.
Deck frame is almost done. Just a few more blocks.
Minding the gap. We begin with the end in mind. The perimeter board is installed after all the other composite material is complete. This allows us to ensure a nice fit with proper spacing. The composite decking is being added with hidden fasteners.
The sound of the waterfall finishes this back-yard oasis. hmmm…wouldn’t a perogla be nice?
